Unique people deserve unique understanding.

Specializing in ADHD, autism, learning differences, giftedness, and 2e assessments for children, teens, and adults.

Neurodiversity-affirming ADHD, autism, and dyslexia testing helps individuals gain clarity and direction.

My name is Erin McCarthy Shaw, and I work with people who think and learn differently—whether it’s ADHD, autism, giftedness, or something that doesn’t fit neatly into a box. I offer neurodiversity-affirming services that include neuropsychiatric and psychoeducational assessments, psychiatric evaluations, and Cogmed working memory training. I specialize in identifying complex, often-overlooked patterns—especially in exceptional people who have felt misunderstood, misdiagnosed, or unsupported for years. Learn more about my training and approach!

“We all have a better guide in ourselves, if we would attend to it, than any other person can be.”
— Jane Austen, Mansfield Park

Woman on a swing near a waterfall, representing clarity through ADHD, autism, and dyslexia assessment for teens and adults.

In a time when conversations about difference are often noisy and not always accurate, it is natural to feel uncertain about where to turn. Not everyone requires a formal diagnosis; some seek only a clearer view of themselves, while others wish to make sense of more complex patterns, to navigate systems, or to find practical supports that allow them to thrive.

Wherever you are in the process, we’ll choose an approach that meets your needs with care, precision, and respect.

Comprehensive Neuropsychiatric & Psychoeducational Assessments

  • I provide comprehensive neuropsychiatric and psychoeducational assessments that are compromised of interviews, rating scales, direct testing, and feedback. My practice specializes in helping ADHD, autistic, gifted, and twice-exceptional (2e) clients gain clarity about how they learn, communicate, adapt, and experience the world.

  • Clients may choose to receive a full written report that integrates testing results, rating scales, and interviews into a detailed narrative. This report highlights an individual’s strengths and differences, offers tailored recommendations, and serves as formal documentation for school or workplace accommodations. Alternatively, when the primary need is diagnostic clarity, I offer a memorandum of evaluation that confirms or rules out a diagnosis.

  • Assessments are available in-person at my offices in Saratoga Springs, NY, Westport, CT, New Canaan, CT or remotely using secure platforms and validated tools...whichever format you choose, the evaluation will be personalized, thorough, and grounded in best practices!

Insurance and Payment Options

I am an out-of-network provider and do not bill insurance directly, so clients are responsible for payment at the time of service. Depending on individual circumstances, some may choose private pay while others use out-of-network benefits. I also accept Health Savings Accounts (HSA) and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA).
